My approach is holistic and integrative. I have come to see anxiety, depression and addiction as symptoms of unresolved personal trauma. I have extensive experience in successfully treating these symptoms and healing the underlying grief and trauma through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, (EMDR) therapy and Mindfulness Integrated Cognitive Behavioral, (MiCBT) therapy.

Mindfulness Meditation

My 20 years of personal experience in mindfulness meditation has revealed that there are no life experiences that cannot be worked with skillfully; to not only reduce the unnecessary suffering involved, but to actually connect with the ordinary magic that resides in the present moment.

“Cultivating mindfulness can lead to the discovery of deep realms of relaxation, calmness and insight within yourself. It is as if you were to come upon a new territory, previously unknown to you or only vaguely suspected, which contains a veritable wellspring of positive energy for self-understanding and healing.” - Jon Kabat-Zinn

This 8-week, highly participatory and practical course focuses on the training of mindfulness. It incorporates the core practices of meditation, mindful yoga and the body-scan, as well as other techniques, as a way of reducing the effects of stress, anxiety, depression and pain in one’s life.  Mindfulness allows one to enter more fully into one’s life and to find the peace that resides in the present moment.

The program is to be approached in the spirit of self-inquiry and entered into as an experiment in life. Through regular practice, participants will develop a solid foundation in the practices and are encouraged to integrate them into their lives.

Individual mindfulness sessions are also available upon request. I also collaborate with and co-facilitate mindfulness offerings with Jacinta Willems, ND.

Elixer Light Qigong

Qigong, (pronounced chee-gung), is an ancient Taoist practice designed to allow one to access, harness and utilize the vital life force of the universe for increased health and well-being. There are many forms but all combine slow gentle movements with moments of stillness, allowing one to cultivate increased vitality while discharging stagnant energies.

The Elixir Light system is complete, cultivating the wisdom, love and vitality dantians, while connecting the three treasures of heaven, human and earth. Classes are taught on an ongoing basis.

Energy medicine sessions are performed with the client fully clothed, lying on a massage table. The healing qi is absorbed into the body at specific points, where it flows through all of the organs and systems, healing and balancing as it circulates. Unhealthy qi is removed as fresh qi is brought in. Specific conditions or ailments are also addressed in the 60 minute session. This is a powerfully rejuvenating experience.

Blessed with a spiritual awakening in 1986, through the 12 steps of AA, I was called to the path of service. Since that time, I have devoted my life to improving the health and well being of others. Drawn to psychotherapy, mindfulness and qigong, I have been consistently guided to the best educational and training opportunities with the most exceptional masters in their fields.

I completed a professional training retreat with John Kabat-Zinn, creator of the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction program in 2002 and I’ve been teaching mindfulness ever since. My primary meditation teacher has been Shinzen Young, author of ‘The Science of Enlightenment.’ I’ve participated in his 6 day and 10 day Silent Retreats.

I’ve been practicing qigong regularly for 20 years, completing teacher training, first, with Master Li Junfeng in 2004 and more recently with Master Robert Peng, author of ' The Master Key.'

I am committed to mastering the Elixir Light qigong system, taught to Master Peng by his Master, the legendary monk, Xiao Yao. As a result of his training, Master Peng developed remarkable spiritual powers and healing abilities. My training with him is ongoing.

I completed an extensive qigong healer certification program with Master Peng in 2015 and I served as an assistant to Master Peng during the 2018 qigong healer training. I am a professional energy practitioner and I offer individual energy medicine sessions.
